In the midst of crisis and in the aftermath of momentous loss, how did our communities come together to mourn, heal, and take action? Love in the Time of AIDS will showcase these struggles through artistic forms of expression, including visual art, storytelling, and performance. From street graffiti to the canvas of our bodies, art has played a pivotal role as testimonial, remembrance, and a call to action. 30 years since the first AIDS diagnosis, where do we stand, as new generations have been raised in this time of AIDS? How can art become a bridge to connect our communities through generations, and speak to the youth of today? Love in the Time of AIDS is a benefit for the Street Smart Youth Program, an HIV prevention and leadership development program for young adults who are homeless, substance users and sex workers, at the Lower East Side Harm Reduction Center.
